Beginning
I beat myself up about how slowly I work, all the time.
All. The. Time.
On my about page, it says this took ages, because IT DID. I have had the idea for this book and this site and all of it, for literal years now. I have no idea why it’s so difficult for me to get things rolling, but once I do, they blaze up and start to consume me.
Nice image.
It’s accurate, however. I built this site in 2 hours on a Sunday morning, because I told myself YET AGAIN that if I actually want to do things, actually want to get them done, I have to SIT DOWN AND JUST DO IT. FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE.
Whoever the fuck Mike is, anyway. Apparently this was done for him. We love you, Mike.
This is the place I will do my longer-form writing. I might do book updates here, as well. I mean, that’s what this site is for: my book. How to Write for Lifetime Success. I’ve been writing it off-and-on for several years. During 2020, I dug in my heels during the summer and started writing one page per day. That lasted for quite a while, and I got a lot of it written. Then school started. I am still a teacher, as I have been for the past 28-plus years, and summer is when things happen for me. When school started this fall, things started to shut down for me again.
I know exactly why this is: I have too many irons in the fire. Teachers in the United States need several jobs to support their families, and this is the case for me, for the past 18 years. I’ve got a soap company, and a writing company, and I’ve also started a new project with a friend. Focus eludes me.
My blog entries moving forward will hopefully not be as disjointed as this one. I’ve just built this site and now I’m writing this, and I need to eat and have more coffee.
